Definition
Personal or business Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) is a payment method whereby you authorize
SecurMEDIC to automatically withdraw the amount of your monthly or bimonthly electricity bill
under your electricity service contract at the applicable rates from your bank account.
Once you have signed up, for every debit, SecurMEDIC will send you a bill indicating the amount
owing and the date on which it will be debited.
Effective date of Pre-authorized Debit (PAD)
Registration for Pre-authorized Debit takes effect after a minimum of three (3) working days.
To avoid late fees, please verify the due date of your bill. You will be notified of the
effective date of your PAD via the confirmation of your PAD registration, which will be sent
to you by mail or be placed in your Customer Space mailbox if you have one.
Banking information
The automatic withdrawals will be made using the banking information in the enclosed
confirmation letter. You also declare that you have provided SecurMEDIC with all the
signatures or permissions required for this bank account.
Notice of banking changes
If you change your financial institution, branch or account number, you must notify
SecurMEDIC promptly by filling out the form on your Customer Space or by contacting our
customer services.
Consent to disclosure of information
You consent to the disclosure of any information contained in your PAD application to your
financial institution, provided that such disclosure is made in compliance with the rules
governing PADs.
Insufficient funds
If an installment cannot be debited due to insufficient funds in your bank account, it will
be debited on the 15th day following the date of refusal, or the next business day, if the
15th day falls on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday. You will then be billed any applicable charges.
Cancellation
You can cancel your PAD agreement at any time through this service. Depending on the date
your request is received, one last installment may be debited from your bank account. You
will then have to pay your bills by mail, through your financial institution or online.
SecurMEDIC may cancel the service:
- if, on two consecutive occasions, a payment cannot be made due to insufficient funds in your account
- if your financial institution refuses to authorize a debit for a reason other than insufficient funds
- for any other reason deemed valid by SecurMEDIC, who will send you written confirmation.
PAD cancellation does not terminate your electricity service contract. Therefore, you are
still responsible for paying your electricity bills, either by mail, online or through your
financial institution.
Refund
You have certain recourse rights if any debit does not comply with this agreement. For
example, you are entitled to reimbursement of any debit that is not authorized or is not
consistent with this PAD agreement. For more information on your rights of recourse,
contact your financial institution or visit
www.cdnpay.ca.
